The Punisher is getting his own TV show
The Punisher is getting his own series. Marvel and Netflix have announced that Jon Bernthal, who debuted as Frank Castle in Season 2 of “Daredevil,” will reprise his role in “Marvel’s The Punisher.”
The Punisher, of course, is the violent vigilante who is willing to employ whatever means necessary to wage his war on crime.
“Hannibal’s” Steve Lightfoot will serve as executive producer and showrunner of “The Punisher.” He is also set to pen the first two episodes of the series.

“For me, the complexity and unpredictability of Frank Castle make him an incredibly compelling character and I couldn’t be more excited to dive into his world,” Lightfoot said in Marvel’s announcement.
“The Punisher” is the sixth series ordered (so far) from the collaboration between Netflix and Marvel Television. The other series include the aforementioned “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones” and the upcoming “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist” and “The Defenders.” No word yet whether The Punisher will be added to “The Defenders” lineup.
Netflix’s Marvel series have definitely taken a darker edge compared with the other properties associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it looks as if the trend will continue with “The Punisher.”
