Stream official ‘Dragon Ball Super’ episodes starting Saturday

Good news for “Dragon Ball” fans based in the U.S.: You soon can stream official episodes of the latest installment of the anime series airing in Japan.

Crunchyroll and Toei Animation have announced that “Dragon Ball Super” (with English subtitles) will be available to stream through their platform starting Oct. 22, with new episodes simulcast as they air in Japan. The simulcast will kick off in the middle of the current “Future Trunks” arc with Episode 63, and previous episodes of the show will be rolling out in installments.

Episodes 47-62, which constitute the “Future Trunks” arc that has aired so far, will be the first of the back catalog made available to stream. More episodes will be released weekly in batches of 10 starting with Episode 1.

“We’re thrilled that this licensing partnership with Toei Animation means that Crunchyroll will provide American fans access to ‘Dragon Ball Super,’” Crunchyroll co-founder and general manager Kun Gao said in the announcement. “Now that ‘Dragon Ball Super’ will become available on our platform, fans no longer have to resort to drastic means to find out how the story continues after decades of waiting for a reboot.”

Produced by Toei Animation, “Dragon Ball Super” is the sequel to Akira Toriyama’s “Dragon Ball” manga and anime series. The story line picks up following the Z warriors’ victory over Majin Boo, where peace has been restored on Earth and Goku finds himself working as a radish farmer. The series premiered in Japan on July 5, 2015.

“Dragon Ball Super” will also be available for U.S. fans to stream at Daisuki.net.
