Slimmed-down Zach Galifianakis hits ‘Birdman’ screening in New York
Zach Galifianakis was serious about losing weight.
The once rotund “Hangover Part III” star showed off his trimmer figure at the closing-night gala presentation of his comedy “Birdman (or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” at the 52nd New York Film Festival on Saturday.
“I’m dying,” the hirsute funnyman quipped about his slim-down to E! News, claiming that his blazer size was a “ladies’ 50.”
It’s been a while since the actor has hit the red carpet, something he chalks up to being bad at being a famous.
“Being a celebrity is ... it’s dumb, and I’m not interested in it,” he told Us Weekly. “I like to be an actor, and that’s it. The blurred lines are, I think, man-made. I think celebrity is a man-made thing; it’s not innate in us. ... I’d rather just do my work and go home and watch Lifetime.”
In May 2013, the “Between Two Ferns” host told Conan O’Brien that he started to shed the pounds when he cut back on hitting the bottle — and after a spittle-filled incident with two men riding in a Jaguar.
“I stopped drinking and I just kind of put the weight off ... I was having a lot of vodka with sausage ... delicious but bad for you,” he said. “I was getting into too much trouble with the drinking, so I just kind of stopped.”
