Simon Cowell expecting a baby with friend’s estranged wife
Simon Cowell is expecting a baby with New York socialite Lauren Silverman, the estranged wife of one of the talent-show judge’s good friends — that according to several reports out Wednesday.
Seems that as Lauren, 36, and her real-estate mogul husband Andrew Silverman grew apart, she and the 53-year-old “The X Factor” judge grew closer. Apparently much closer.
But it’s not quite as scandalous as all that.
“Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while,” a source tells Us Weekly, which first reported the story.
Cowell told GQ magazine in 2011, when he was engaged to former fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy, that he’d ruled out fatherhood, even though it was something he’d always wanted.
“Truthfully, with the schedule, the crazy hours, I don’t think it would work...,” he told the mag (via Starpulse). “With the way I live my life, I wouldn’t have the patience. I’d sort of want people born at the age of 10.”
He sang a slightly different tune to AOL Music last year, saying, “I do really, really like kids, because I can talk to them and listen to them,” he said. “The problem has always been how much time you need to devote to bringing up kids and I’ve always dedicated all my life to work, and at 52, I’ve probably missed the opportunity.”
Lauren Silverman is reportedly about 10 weeks along, so look for Baby Cowell in the beginning of next year — giving Simon that daddy opportunity he didn’t miss after all.
