Sorry boys, Selena Gomez is feeling her girl power right now

She’s a onetime teen queen who’s now hit 21, but that doesn’t mean Selena Gomez has let off the pedal when it comes to girl power.

Girlfriend is ranked No. 1 in powerful women 21 and younger in the newest issue of Seventeen magazine, which features her on the cover. The full list will be out later this week.

“This year is when I really started feeling powerful,” she tells the mag. “I had always been the underdog secretly. I was on Disney when it was Miley [Cyrus], the Jonas Brothers, and Demi [Lovato]. I questioned the way I looked, acted, sang, and wrote.

“Then I turned 20, went through a really bad breakup, and realized I needed to have ‘Come & Get It’ be amazing. I wanted it all to be me. I’m glad it’s taken me this long to get where I am because now I am ready for it.”

Gomez is, of course, Justin Bieber’s ex. The two first broke up in November 2012 and then the on-and-off breakup continued into 2013. The single “Come & Get It” debuted in April 2013, followed by an album, “Stars Dance,” that July.

Turns out Selena has since sought some advice from a slightly older female pop powerhouse.

“I actually talked to Katy Perry about guys who are intimidated by strong girls. I haven’t found someone yet who could understand my lifestyle, support it, love me through it, and not be threatened by it,” Gomez said.

“It’s hard. I do think I might scare some guys, because I’m like, ‘I want to change the world! I have dreams! What do you want to do?’ But I only know how to be me.”

She also told Seventeen that she’s now surrounded herself with supportive friends, the kind who tell her to look at the other person’s side of things if she gets mad at someone.

“[T]hose things piss you off in the moment, but then you realize that that’s who you want to be surrounded by.”

One group she wishes she could be more supportive of, or at least do more for? Her fans.

“I don’t feel like I can do enough for my fans,” Gomez says. “I work a lot, I work hard, and I get tired.

“But when you walk onstage and see these people who wait hours outside just to see you, it’s the greatest thing in the world.”

Looks as if this young star will be dealing with that issue for years to come.
