Rosie O’Donnell’s wife Michelle Rounds wants custody of their daughter
Rosie O’Donnell’s divorce from Michelle Rounds has taken a turn for the contentious: The latter is reportedly looking to get full custody of their 2-year-old daughter, Dakota.
“I just want my child to have the best possible environment to grow up in, a normal life,” Rounds told “Entertainment Tonight” on Wednesday. “Right now she’s got 24/7 nannies over there at Rosie’s house. I don’t want my child to have a 24/7 nanny.”
O’Donnell also lets the girl have “carte blanche,” Rounds said, rather than mildly disciplining the child.
That was the story from the televised horse’s mouth, but Rounds’ criticism of O’Donnell was more specific in her court filing, according to TMZ: Wine and weed allegedly affect the comic’s parenting abilities.
A tit-for-tat battle of statements from publicists and attorneys has ensued since Rounds’ intent to file Tuesday went public, with one side pretty much calling Rounds a gold digger and the other labeling O’Donnell a bad parent.
The former “View” panelist, 53, filed for divorce from her wife of nearly three years at the end of February. The women’s prenuptial agreement laid out “extremely generous” terms for Rounds, on the condition that she stay faithful, Page Six reported in August 2012.
However, Rounds told “ET” this week, “I will walk away from the prenup if Rosie will give me full custody.”
The couple married quietly in June 2012 before Rounds went in for surgery to remove desmoid tumors. That August, O’Donnell suffered a heart attack.
They adopted Dakota as a newborn in January 2013. O’Donnell has four other children from her previous relationship with Kelli Carpenter.
