Miley Cyrus smoking a joint at MTV EMAs: Worrisome or wearisome?
Miley Cyrus sparked up what appeared to be a joint at the MTV European Music Awards on Sunday in Amsterdam, scandalizing some and giving new meaning to scandal burnout for others.
Oh yeah, she also twerked again, butt-first into the face of a little person.
Among those scandalized? MTV itself, which for its U.S. audience deleted footage of the pop star smoking as she accepted the award for best music video for “Wrecking Ball.” Yes, it was the night’s highest honor.
Also clutching its pearls was the Parents Television Council, which, according to Show Tracker, thanked MTV for its discretion in nuking the apparent drug use for U.S. consumption.
But remember, this is a 20-year-old who already informed us: “I think weed is the best drug on Earth,” so we really shouldn’t be shocked at all. And the show was set in Amsterdam, where, according to ABC News, pot isn’t legal, but people can’t be prosecuted for possessing small amounts -- so weed is sold openly in cafes that are known as “coffee shops.”
And Cyrus last Friday whiled away about four hours at a coffee shop with model Cara Delevingne, E! News reported.
So count the Ministry of Gossip among those more weary than worried about Cyrus’ behavior.
