Miley Cyrus spills it about some of the men in her life
Nothing Miley Cyrus does shocks us anymore.
No, seriously, nothing does. We just read all the way through her new Rolling Stone interview — in which she gets the bottoms of her feet tattooed, drinks booze underage in a club, cusses nearly nonstop and jumps out of a perfectly good airplane — and the impression we’re left with is a distinct “meh.”
Did we mention the 20-year-old poses topless for the cover? Yeah, that too.
But the piece did find her dishing on some of the men in her life, and that was kind of interesting. Here’s a taste of what she had to say.
About Robin Thicke, her MTV Video Music Awards twerk buddy:
“No one is talking about the man behind the ass. It was a lot of ‘Miley twerks on Robin Thicke,’ but never, ‘Robin Thicke grinds up on Miley.’ They’re only talking about the one that bent over. So obviously there’s a double standard.”
On Steve Carell, her seemingly disapproving neighbor:
“He always gives me the stank-eye because I drive so fast. The other day I was trying to reverse and I almost hit a thousand things, and I was getting nervous because I could see him [crossing his arms and sighing]. I’m like, oh, my God, ‘Dan in Real Life’ is watching me right now!”
On her evolving relationship with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus:
“I never knew my dad smoked weed,” said the younger Cyrus. “I thought my dad was a freak. Now I know he was just stoned.”
About Justin Bieber, who’s really not much younger than she is, but whom she says she mentors “in a way” (apparently in a way he doesn’t listen to very much):
“He’s trying really hard,” Miley said. “People don’t take him seriously, but he really can play the drums, he really can play guitar, he really can sing. I just don’t want to see him ... that up, to where people think he’s Vanilla Ice. I tell him that. Like, ‘You don’t want to become a joke. When you go out, don’t start ... Don’t come in shirtless.’
“But the thing is,” she added, “I think boys are, like, seven years behind. So in his head, he’s really, like, 12.”
On Liam Hemsworth, whom she’d break up with two weeks after giving the interview: “One thing about sky diving,” she said, “you really know who you love, based on who you call [afterward].”
She had in fact not called Hemsworth at the time.
