Miley Cyrus, Patrick Schwarzenegger reportedly call it quits
Another wrecking ball has hit Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger’s relationship: The couple has reportedly split after five months of dating.
While the rumored breakup was buzzed about on Monday and Tuesday, the “Wrecking Ball” singer and the political heir have remained mum on the topic.
Reps for Cyrus did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Most reports, including those from People, E! News and TMZ, agreed that the split is amicable but disagreed on whether the two are on a break or breaking up (though really, the terms have pretty much become interchangeable).
E! purported that Cyrus and Schwarzenegger are actually “taking a break,” while People said the relationship is “done.”
“They’re just in two different places in their lives -- he’s in college and she’s focused on her music and career,” a source told the magazine.
The breakup comes on the heels of the USC student’s gallivanting with his best friend’s girlfriend in Cabo San Lucas while he was on spring break last month. Cyrus reportedly forgave him for his perceived philandering, while he insisted that he “would NEVER do anything against” his girlfriend.
The wild child’s dad, “Achy Breaky Heart” crooner Billy Ray Cyrus, came to Schwarzenegger’s defense too, saying “he had fun” and “he’s a good boy.”
That eyebrow-raising trip to Mexico has been the biggest public dust-up in the pair’s romance, though it still doesn’t compare to the global headlines the 23-year-old twerker made at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards while she was still engaged to “Hunger Games” star Liam Hemsworth.
Just before Cabo-gate, Cyrus grabbed dinner with her beau, his brother and their mom, Maria Shriver, at the Palm Restaurant in Beverly Hills and rumors of possible wedding bells came soon after.
Schwarzenegger, 21, son of celeb-turned-California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Shriver, was spotted going stag during the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival earlier this month, and Cyrus has also been flying solo at her latest public appearances.
