It’s not a good time to be Mariah Carey — even she’s ready to ‘move on,’ report says
Mariah Carey is ready to “move on,” according to a report out Tuesday, and we can’t blame her. In recent weeks, fiance James Packer dumped her, leading to ugly separation negotiations, and news that she and Nick Cannon had finalized their long-running divorce was accompanied by confirmation that her ex-husband had gotten another woman pregnant.
“She feels like she dodged a bullet,” a source told “Entertainment Tonight.”
More like a machine-gun onslaught.
Negotiations between the singer and Packer, a billionaire businessman, who broke up in early November, “aren’t going well,” the “ET” source said. “At the best, she’ll keep the ring.”
Getting more than the massive ring could be helpful, at least in terms of celebrity-scale finance, according to divorce-settlement details reported by TMZ. Carey made a mere $6.3 million in 2014 while Cannon earned $2.7 million, the website said, and dad has agreed to put just $5,000 a month in a trust for the kiddos, who’ll stay with mom.
In contrast, she has reportedly demanded 50 million bucks from Packer, despite never marrying him, saying he made financial promises to her during their two-year courtship.
On the bright side? Carey’s engagement ring from Packer is said to be worth $10 million, and TMZ said the finalized settlement with Cannon includes a caveat that twins Moroccan and Monroe can’t refer to any of their parents’ future love interests as Mom, Dad, Mommy, Daddy, Father, Mother ... you get the idea.
And then there’s the baby. No, not #dembabies. There’s a new baby on the way for Cannon and Brittany Bell, a former Miss Arizona, who, according to Us Weekly, is six months along after dating the “America’s Got Talent” host off and on a while back.
Cannon confirmed the news a couple of weeks after rumors surfaced, saying late last week on Power 105.1’s the Breakfast Club that he “absolutely” had a third child on the way.
“God said be fruitful and multiply!” he joked. “I’m doing the Lord’s work!”
Oh, yeah, Cannon also said, in response to grilling by the show’s hosts, “I attempt to be celibate, but stuff always happens.”
According to “ET’s” source, the Cannon-Bell baby is still a “sensitive topic” for Carey.
Stuff happens, sure. There’s just an awful lot of it happening to Mariah lately.
