Lindsay Lohan suspected in theft, but victim says she’s innocent
Lindsay Lohan and law enforcement are crossing paths yet again.
The actress was being sought by police for questioning regarding an alleged theft of watches and more at the Hollywood Hills home of one of her friends, L.A. Now reported Tuesday. Complicating the situation for the cops: For whatever reason, the friend who initially reported the items stolen isn’t cooperating.
Investigators were expected to present the case to prosecutors Tuesday to determine whether there was enough evidence to proceed with criminal charges, police sources said.
Though the purported victim, Sam Magid, had by Monday withdrawn his original complaint regarding the disappearance of $100,000 worth of watches and sunglasses during an all-night party Aug. 19, said TMZ, police were pursuing the case through other witnesses.
The website cited police sources who said Lohan is a suspect in the case. Criminal charges would be bad news for the actress, on probation — albeit informal — after pleading no contest in a shoplifting case in May 2011.
One person who said he does have evidence in the case is daddy Michael Lohan. “No matter what anyone says, I have witness and proof that Sam Magid said that nothing was stolen,” he told the Huffington Post.
