Hospitalized Kim Zolciak sending selfies after suffering mini stroke, undergoes another procedure
Kim Zolciak is having another procedure on Friday following a mini stroke she suffered earlier this week.
The former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star, who is currently competing in this season of "Dancing With the Stars," has been hospitalized since Wednesday and kept fans informed of her progress through Friday with several selfies on Instagram.
"Going in for one more procedure, things are looking up!" Bravo's "Tardy for the Party" star wrote Friday, sharing a hospital bed selfie with an oxygen tube affixed to her face. "don't let the oxygen scare you its just protocol. I wanted THANK all of you for the love! I feel so overwhelmed with all the texts, comments etc. I'm so grateful to have all of you!"
The 37-year-old mother of six suffered a transient ischemic attack (TIA) on Wednesday when she landed back in Georgia following a red-eye flight after Tuesday's "DWTS."
"I got home and within minutes suffered a TIA (mini stroke) the left side of my body went completely numb and my speech was gone," she wrote on Instagram on Thursday. "Extremely grateful for @sladeosborne @briellebiermann @nikitpressley @kroybiermann for quick reactions! I have 100%of my feeling back THANK GOD. Still in the hospital but I just know I'm getting released today! #CrazyAgeDoesntMatter"
TIAs occur when the blood supply to part of the brain is briefly interrupted and produces similar symptoms to a stroke, according to the Mayo Clinic. They last only a few minutes and cause no permanent damage, but may be considered a warning because about 1 in 3 people who have TIA episodes will eventually suffer a stroke.
Following up her initial post, Zolciak had not yet been released from the hospital and shared several snapshots since. One featured her husband, Atlanta Falcons defensive end Kroy Biermann, cuddling her in her hospital bed: "All that matters... FAMILY," she wrote.
Her dance partner, Tony Dovolani, has also been by her bedside for the past two days.
"He even brings me my favorite coffee. Although he is always dancing around the room lol he keeps me smiling! So blessed to be surrounded by such great people. Want to go home so bad! Hopefully tomorrow! #GoingStirCrazy #BlessingInDisguse," Zolciak wrote.
Dovolani reposted the picture and added: "Trying to keep her in good spirits. In the short time we have known each other I've grown close to Kim and her family."
The reality star's first week on "DWTS" didn't go so well: She earned 12 out of 30 points for her "Hey Mama" salsa. This week, she improved with a foxtrot and increased her score to 18 out of 30.
It is unclear if and when Zolciak will return to the dance competition; however, Dovolani has reportedly been teaching her steps for Monday's show.
