Khloe Kardashian on Lamar Odom: ‘You can never be prepared for an experience like this’
Khloe Kardashian is speaking out for the first time since Lamar Odom’s recent medical crisis began, offering thanks to those who’ve supported her and those who’ve cared for her estranged husband.
“The past week has been incredibly difficult,” the 31-year-old reality TV star said in a statement on her website. “I am so thankful to family, friends and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar.
Odom was, of course, found unresponsive Tuesday at a brothel in Nevada after a binge that police later said included alcohol, herbal sexual stimulants and cocaine. After a week -- four days of which were spent in a coma -- in the ICU at Las Vegas’ Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, he was airlifted Monday evening to Los Angeles for treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Kardashian rushed to his bedside immediately and reportedly stayed there nonstop.
She said Tuesday that she wanted “to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work. Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made.”
On Tuesday morning, the Odom family, including his aunt JaNean Mercer, released a statement indicating Lamar had taken a few steps since returning to L.A. and “continues to make miraculous progress.”
Kardashian, whose divorce from Odom is pending but not yet final, was said Tuesday to have put her relationship with Houston Rockets player James Harden on hold while the former Laker and Clipper recovers. Odom’s rehabilitation is reportedly expected to take many months.
“You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure,” Kardashian concluded. “Thank you for your continued support. God is great!!! XOXO, Khloe.”
