Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid rock out their first Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid have managed to outdo the perennially over-the-top Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The models of the moment hit the glittery runway for the first time on Tuesday and dominated the news cycle regarding the annual panty parade.

The show returned to New York for its 20th anniversary and was held in the Lexington Armory. Swarovski was clinched as a sponsor yet again, as well as luxe shoe designer Brian Atwood, who cobbled the models’ footwear for the show. Last year, the Angels went across the pond for the first time, strutting their stuff in London.

Angel Behati Prinsloo, wife of Maroon 5 crooner Adam Levine, opened “the Greatest Fashion Show on Earth” for the second year in a row, this time donning a psychedelic pair of wings and a fringed jacket as she walked to Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker,” Vogue reported. Jenner hit the runway for the first time in this section wearing a lacy corset, sky-high leopard platforms and a flowing train.

The 20-year-old also provided one of the show’s biggest “gets”: Her father, Caitlyn Jenner, sat in the front row at the lingerie extravaganza after turning down invitations for several fashion week events. Mom Kris Jenner sat elsewhere in the front row; the two were the only members of the Kardashian clan to attend — and the model preferred it that way.

“I told them all to stay away,” Kendall Jenner told the New York Daily News backstage at the show. “It was too much pressure, and I was like, ‘Mom and Dad are good enough,’” she said. “I just need the pressure off. There’s enough pressure as it is.”

British songstress Ellie Goulding performed during the next segment, which featured models in butterfly-like wings and drapey fabrics led by veteran Angel Adriana Lima. Hadid was transformed into an aqua-hued butterfly wearing hand-painted wings by artist Jeff Fender and feathered heels by Atwood, according to Harper’s Bazaar.

Jenner and Hadid, who have dominated runway shows for high-fashion designers, said modeling for the commercial brand was a dream come true.

The two were asked about their stress levels leading up to the big catwalk. Thankfully for Hadid, daughter of real estate tycoon Mohamed Hadid and “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Yolanda Foster, she got a little help from some high-profile models.

“Lily [Aldridge] is like my big sister, and she’s done it so many times, so she had some pointers,” Hadid told WhoWhatWear. “Naomi Campbell helped me a lot. We practiced walking in her hotel hallway last week, which was really fun. We were just hanging out, and I was telling her how I was nervous, and she was like, ‘Oh, no, you’re not going to be nervous. We’re walking down the hallway.’ So we did that. And I feel like once you walk by some hotel guests and people coming out of the elevator, it makes you less nervous.’”

Hadid’s younger brother, Anwar Hadid, hit the pink carpet to support the young model and also sat among the A-listers.

R&B singer The Weeknd and pop star Selena Gomez performed while the models walked during royal-themed and patriotic Pink segments. Aldridge wore the brand’s big-ticket showstopper, a $2-million Fireworks Fantasy Bra that boasted 6,500 gems (1,364 carats!) and was fashioned to look like a bursting fireworks display.

Newly promoted Angels Elsa Hosk, Jac Jagaciak, Jasmine Tookes, Kate Grigorieva, Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell, Taylor Hill and Pink model Rachel Hilbert walked the runway for the first time with their new titles.

The telecast will air Dec. 8 on CBS and be broadcast in 192 countries. After the show, the elaborate winged get-ups will be sent to various Victoria’s Secret stores to be displayed in their windows.
