After Katharine McPhee kiss, ‘Smash’ director’s wife kicks him out, report says
The kiss seen around the world between former “Smash” actress Katharine McPhee and former “Smash” director Michael Morris — both of whom are married — has reportedly been causing some chaos, honey.
Morris, married to actress Mary McCormack, found himself feeling the consequences. According to Page Six, McCormack kicked Morris out of their Los Angeles home Sunday when he told her that TMZ photos of him kissing McPhee were about to break online.
Morris knew the photos would break, Page Six reports, since he himself tried to buy them from TMZ, hoping to protect his marriage and reputation. Alas, to no avail.
McCormack “had no idea anything had been going on. The last thing she ever thought was that he was seeing another woman,” a source close to the actress told the paper.
That other woman, McPhee, meanwhile, was also reportedly shocked with the images. Multiple US Weekly sources revealed that after McPhee saw the photos, she felt “so embarrassed she was caught.” One of the mag’s sources added, “She should have known better!”
When the photos first emerged, however, TMZ sources said that McPhee and her husband had been separated for six months and have been living apart.
So, really, when did McPhee and Morris start getting cozy? Their relationship, according to Page Six, was rekindled after “Smash” was canceled in May. McPhee moved from New York to Los Angeles to work on her fourth album.

As for any insight as to why McPhee would have wanted to end her relationship with manager-husband Nick Cokas, an on-set source told People that Cokas was authoritative on the “Smash” set. “I never noticed anything with Kat and the director on set at the time. ... I do remember Kat’s husband was always around and was very controlling.”
McPhee and Cokas have been married since 2008 and have no children together.
Meanwhile, Morris has been married to McCormack for more than 10 years and share three children together younger than 9. “It’s so sad that this happened to [McCormack],” an US Weekly source said. “She’s truly great.”
