No new baby plan yet for Prince William, Catherine; George crawling

Kate Middleton and Prince William have their hands full enough with their son Prince George, delaying any plans the royals might have for another royal baby, they revealed Monday during St. Patrick’s Day festivities in England.

The duke and duchess of Cambridge, 31 and 32, respectively, appeared at their first joint royal engagement of the year at Mons Barracks in Aldershot to visit the 1st Batallion Irish guards during a St. Patrick’s Day parade. There, Catherine presented the officers and guardsmen with traditional sprigs of shamrocks.

Regimental Sgt. Maj. Ray Collister asked William if there were any more “baby Micks” on the way -- “Micks,” coming from “Mc,” being a jocular term for Irish people, according to the Daily Mail.

William, father to 7-month-old Prince George, replied with, “Maybe one day. One’s enough at the moment.”

Collister, 56, added: “‘He said maybe when there’s time.”

However, the second in line to the British throne did reveal that the royal tot had started crawling.

“I asked them all about George, I’m nosey like that,” guardsman Glenn Tierney told the Mail. “They said he’s doing really well and he’s very busy crawling and eating.”

The guardsman said the new parents were busy making arrangements to take the infant on their tour of Australia, which they’re scheduled to take this spring.

William and Catherine, who reportedly went on vacation in the Maldives earlier this month sans George, greeted 300 soldiers, among them Irish Guards and reserve soldiers from the London Regiment and friends and family of the military men and women.

Wills, who announced in September that he’d be leaving the Royal Air Force to focus on his royal duties, was dressed in military garb to reflect his role as Colonel of the Regiment and carried a ceremonial sword. His wife was robed in a long emerald-hued coat from Hobbs, matching green pumps and a Gina Foster hat to celebrate the holiday, according to several news outlets.

The duchess wore a large shamrock sprig and affixed a gold Cartier brooch to her coat. The brooch was reportedly first worn in 1901 by Queen Alexandra, the wife of Edward VII and has been also seen on the Queen Mother. Fittingly, Alexandra inaugurated the shamrock ceremony in 1901, the Telegraph reported.

Catherine presented her husband with the first shamrock sprig of the ceremony and also presented one to the guardsmen’s enormous mascot, an Irish Wolfhound dog named Domhnall. Kate affixed his shamrock to his collar.
