Justin Bieber defends himself, with love: ‘Don’t believe rumors’

Seems an accusation of attempted robbery has gotten under Justin Bieber’s skin, prompting the pop star to reach out to fans with a vague but love-laden explanation.

“It is hard to defend myself and my privacy every moment of the day,” he said Wednesday on Twitter. “Then to see rumors. The truth will set u free.”

With that, Bieber included a screen grab of a TMZ headline saying the accusation against him is untrue, quoting a woman who said she is a bat girl at the mini golf course and batting cage where the pop star is accused of breaking the law.

Police on Wednesday were investigating a complaint by a San Fernando woman who alleged that the Biebs had reached into her purse Tuesday night and grabbed her phone to check if she’d taken pictures of him and his crew. After he was foiled by her password-protected device, he returned it to her, she said, and she then showed him that no pics had been snapped. He allegedly paid her back by yelling at her and making her 13-year-old daughter cry.

However, the Sherman Oaks Castle Park employee told TMZ that yes, the “Baby” singer was upset, but the woman was the aggressive one and had refused security’s requests to stop taking pictures. She said he never reached into the woman’s purse.

In his series of tweets responding to the brouhaha, Bieber tried to take the high road -- which is apparently paved with love.

“I will continue to be the man my mother raised. I love people and I will try to be kind even when things are not fair. Don’t believe rumors,” he wrote. “Thanks for those who stick by me and those that help me grow everyday. I love you.”

“Off to have fun and smile with friends. I’m human. I feel. I hurt. But I got thick skin too. I can handle it. I love you.”

Considering the fact that Mr. Bieber has more than 51 million Twitter followers, that’s a whole lotta love.
