TV actress JoAnna Garcia, MLB’s Nick Swisher welcome baby girl
JoAnna Garcia Swisher is a new mom! The actress and her baseball-playing husband, Nick Swisher, have welcomed their first child.
And it’s a girl!
The “The Internship” actress and “Freaks and Geeks” alum married the Cleveland Indians first baseman in Palm Beach in December 2010. News about their child’s birth broke Tuesday when her husband was placed on the team’s paternity list, according to the Associated Press.

“Everybody’s doing pretty well,” Indians Manager Terry Francona told Cleveland’s Plain Dealer. “Everybody’s healthy. He’s obviously over-the-top excited, proud, all that stuff.”
Swisher is expected to return to the field Friday. No word yet on a name or birth vitals.
Garcia, 33, and Swisher, 31, announced that they were expecting in November with a tweet and later revealed that it was a girl.

“My wife says, ‘You’re going to spoil that little girl so much,’” he then told People mag. “I talk to her every night. We’re only a couple weeks out now. Jo and I, we’re so excited to meet her and to bring her in the world and give her a whole heap of love. It’s that life-altering moment that I need. I’ve been cruising along. I’ve got a beautiful wife — she’s my best friend. I’ve got a great job and a beautiful home, and now it’s time to be a dad.”
Swisher added that he wants the baby girl to be “exactly” like his wife.
And for the sake of her character Vicki Appleby, here’s hoping that she turns out to be neither a “Freak” nor a “Geek.”
