Jennifer Lawrence: ‘Nobody can stay beloved forever’

Hey, people, Jennifer Lawrence is a lot more self-aware than we might have thought. She even knows there’s a backlash against her.

The 23-year-old Oscar winner, who will next reprise her role of shape-shifting mutant Mystique in “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” knows that her novelty might wear off soon and explained it an interview in the June issue of Marie Claire.

“Nobody can stay beloved forever,” she told the mag. “I never believed it, the whole time. I was like, just wait: People are going to get sick of me. My picture is everywhere, my interviews are everywhere.”

Indeed, the Kentucky native became a hit on the late-night circuit with her unfiltered anecdotes, made headlines with her pixie haircut, was featured on a slew of magazine covers, was named a spokeswoman for French fashion house Dior and could be relied on to up the zany factor -- especially on a high-profile red carpet.

“I’m way too annoying because I get on red carpets and I’m really hyper, most likely because I’ve been drinking, and I can’t not photo-bomb somebody if it’s a good opportunity. But it’s something I always tell myself: ‘You need to calm ... down. You don’t want to constantly be a GIF.’”

However, it seems as though that’s exactly the reason FHM readers voted her the sexiest woman in the world this year. Even coining the terms “armpit vagina” and “fulcer” (fake ulcer) has been found endearing. Marie Claire loves her too, saying precisely that on its June cover, which features the pixie-cut star.

The “Hunger Games” actress insists she’s no rebel. Rather, she said, she’s just out of control: “I just don’t think about things before I say them or do them.”

As for falling at the Oscars twice, she said that wasn’t planned either.

“I’m trying to do the right thing, waving to the fans, trying to be nice, and there’s a traffic cone. The second I hit it, I was laughing, but on the inside I was like ... ‘They’re totally going to think this is an act,’” she said. “But trust me, if I was going to plan it, I would have done it at the Golden Globes or the SAGs,” she joked. “I would have never done it at two Oscars in a row. I watch ‘Homeland’ –- I’m craftier than that!”

Someone else who hasn’t grown weary of her shtick seems to be Nicholas Hoult, her “beautiful face” boyfriend and “X-Men: Days of Future Past” costar whom she’s been dating on and off since they made “X-Men: First Class” in 2011. It seems the pair has figured out the secret to a successful long-distance relationship.

“When we’re busy, we agree to mutually ignore each other. Not completely, but neither of us gets mad when the other doesn’t text back or call,” she said. “Life’s super busy. Obviously you know what they’re doing, and you trust them.”

The actress prefaced those statements by saying it’s important to maintain your individuality while part of a couple.

“We’re so young that it would almost be like if we lived in the same city, what would happen? We’d be living together,” she told the magazine. “At least this way he’s in the same boat as I am: We can go out and have our own lives and know that we have each other.”

The British actor expressed similar feelings about his girlfriend in a V Magazine interview in March.

Hoult, 24, also said that he enjoyed working with his girlfriend on the latest installment of the “X-Men” franchise, in which he plays the younger version of Hank McCoy, a.k.a. Beast. (The actress said she may or may not have required some makeup touch-ups after lunch while she was in her sexy blue costume on set, she joked.)

“It’s fun because in this business you are away from one another for long periods of time,” Hoult added. “So when you’re on set together it’s a brilliant thing, because you actually get to spend time together.”

And it seems as if Lawrence’s novelty hasn’t worn off for him either.

“It’s like that thing whereby you don’t believe your own hype,” he told V. “Enjoy the good times, but don’t get swept away with it. And I think that’s something she’s capable of doing and that’s what makes her special, but yeah, it is very odd, and I am just kind of a bystander in many ways. It is well-deserved for her. I haven’t really seen any change in her.”
