Halle Berry to use pregnancy, team with Kors on Watch Hunger Stop

Halle Berry is touting her new pregnancy and motherhood as she prepares to launch a philanthropic campaign with designer Michael Kors.

The duo has paired up to launch Watch Hunger Stop, which will provide meals to children in Africa, Syria and maybe Central America. They plan to raise money via the sale of Kors’ ubiquitous $295 Runway watch, according to the Associated Press. For each watch sold, 100 meals will be provided to children as part of the U.N. World Food Programme.

“I feel fantastic,” the 46-year-old told CNN of her pregnancy as she promoted her campaign. “This has been the biggest surprise of my life, to tell you the truth. Thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it’s been a big surprise and the most wonderful.”

And the Oscar winner’s maternal instincts are kicking in as she prepares to travel the world.

“I hope we go while I’m pregnant, so I can talk about prenatal care,” she told AP on Saturday. “And I will have time off.... I’m not working right now.”

Berry, who just started showing her growing baby bump, confirmed Friday that she and fiance Olivier Martinez, 47, are expecting. This will be their first child as a couple; Berry has a 5-year-old daughter, Nahla, with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.

Berry is reportedly expecting a boy and is said to be about 12 weeks along.

“The Call” actress said she wants to use this charitable opportunity to speak to mothers who struggle to feed and tend to their children.

“It’s so important to me, being a mom, that I can help educate women on how important it is that when you have a healthy child, it helps set them up for life,” she said. “If we can use our celebrity, I want to. I don’t want it to go waste. It would be a shame not to use it.”

Kors, who is also a judge on “Project Runway,” chose to work with Berry because he is “enthralled by fabulous jugglers.”

Kors said of his partner. “I wanted someone talented, check. Someone compassionate to the world, a great mother, someone incredibly glamorous and chic — and who makes it all look easy.”
