‘Empire’ costars tie the knot
Season 2 of “Empire” got a romantic unofficial encore last week, despite production wrapping in March.
Trai Byers and Grace Gealey both confirmed on social media Sunday that they were now married, sharing a photo of the newly wedded pair and with a message expressing thanks to all those who had extended congratulations.
Byers, who plays Andre Lyon, eldest son of Cookie and Lucious Lyon (Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard) and Gealey, who plays Anika Calhoun, Lucious’ sometimes fiancee, were reportedly engaged in July 2015, when Gealey was photographed at a surprise party for her 31st birthday wearing a diamond ring.
The private pair are rumored to have been dating since March 2015.
TMZ is reporting that Byers and Gealey got married on Grand Cayman Island on Thursday in a small ceremony including close friends and family. It appears that none of the pair’s fellow cast members from Fox’s hit series was in attendance, but tweets of support for the couple’s nuptials have started rolling in from cast and crew alike.
The Times sat down to talk to Gealey and Byers (though not about each other) last fall as thing started to heat up on “Empire’s” second season.
Check out the videos below and ponder what an attractive couple the pair makes.
Most know Trai Byers as ”Empire’s” Andre Lyon, but he may be populating billboards and (more) magazines very soon. When he stopped by the L.A. Times, we spoke with him about a new modeling contract and his personal style.
