Why is the Rock in a pool carrying puppies? Interesting story, actually ...
There’s a lot more to that photo of a fully clothed Dwayne Johnson holding two Frenchies while standing in a swimming pool: The “Furious 7” actor went into full hero mode over the long weekend to save one of his new puppies from drowning.
No, it isn't a wet T-shirt contest or the September page of the latest Hunks & Pups calendar. There's a lot more to that photo of a fully clothed Dwayne Johnson standing in a swimming pool and holding two Frenchies: The "Furious 7" actor went into full hero mode over the long weekend to save one of his new puppies from drowning.
The "Ballers" star shared the tale Monday on Instagram, explaining that not all dogs have the instinct to swim, something he witnessed firsthand when one of the French bulldog puppies sank right to bottom in the deep end of his pool -- "like a brick."
Upon Brutus and Hobbs' homecoming, Johnson immediately took them to his backyard so they could "start learning how to 'handle their business and potty like big boys'." But that's when things got scary.
"I set them both down and they both take off in a full sprint and fall right into the deep end of our pool," he wrote. "HOBBS immediately starts doggy paddling while BRUTUS (like a brick) sink heads first to the bottom of the pool. I take off into a full sprint, fully clothed, dive in the pool, swim to the bottom, rescue my brick, I mean BRUTUS and bring him back to the edge of the pool."
The former wrestler said that Brutus was "a little delirious" and threw up the water he'd swallowed. Then, he "looked up at me as if to say, 'Thank God you didn't have to give me mouth to mouth!' and then ran off to play with his brother."
The amiable star also spun the ordeal into a few life lessons, which he also shared on social media: "A) Not all puppies have the instinct to doggie paddle. B) Some puppies (like BRUTUS) will be so in shock by experiencing water they will sink extremely fast so react quick. C) While [sprinting] to save your puppies life, before you dive in, try and throw your cel phone to safety. Don't keep it in your pocket... like I did. #BRUTUSLives #HOBBSCanSwim #MyCelPhonesDead #AndNoMouthToMouthNeeded #HappyLaborDay"
As the brawny hero's story picked up online, Johnson tweeted quips about the incident's aftermath, specifically Brutus' lack of gratitude.
Hey, puppies will be puppies! Which is why we'll also add item D): Even if a dog can swim, that dog almost always needs to be taught how to get out of the pool.
