Russell Wilson, Ciara are abstaining from sex: ‘Pray for a brother!’ pastor says
Russell Wilson and Ciara have taken “all that extra stuff” off the table. And by “all that extra stuff,” he means sex -- of the premarital variety.
The Seattle Seahawks quarterback got all goofy about his lady in a sit-down with Pastor Miles McPherson at the Rock Church in San Diego on Sunday night, and in not so many words let it be known that he and Ciara had chosen to play it chaste.
Despite the fact that he considers her the most beautiful, most kind, most engaging person in the world.
“She was on tour, she was traveling and I was looking at her in the mirror,” the 26-year-old said as he explained how their decision came to pass. “I was sitting in the dressing room and she was getting ready to go, about 15 minutes before she was on stage, and she was sitting there and God spoke to me and said, ‘I need you to lead her.’ And I was like, ‘Really? Right now?’
Yup, right now, dude. Seriously, she’s due on stage in 15 minutes.
“I told her, right then and there, I said, ‘What would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table. And just did it Jesus’ way ... ?”
Prompted by McPherson to speak plainly -- “because there’s a lot of people here, their minds are going in a whole lot of different places right now, and, uh, we wanna know” -- Wilson boiled it down.
“Yeah, we’re talking about sex,” he said, adding, “I said to her, and she completely agreed ... can we love each other without that? If you can really love somebody without that, then you can really love somebody.”
The quarterback, whose relationship with Ciara went public in April when they attended the White House Correspondents Dinner as a couple, couldn’t say enough good things about the 29-year-old singer as he shared his belief that they were brought together by God to bless one another and others, thanks to the impact they have in their public personas.
“I ain’t gonna lie to y’all now,” he told the audience after acknowledging that neither one of them was perfect. “I need y’all to pray for us, ‘cause I know y’all seen her on the screen now ... if there’s a 10, she’s a 15.”
“Pray for a brother!” McPherson chimed in, clearly enjoying the chat.
But perhaps it was all meant to be?
“The funny thing is, I told somebody that that’s the girl I want to be with, before I ever met her,” Wilson said. “Before I met her, I was like, ‘I’m probably going to end up with Ciara.’
“True story.”
Hey, power of prayer.
