Chris Brown rejects plea deal in D.C. assault case

Chris Brown rejected a plea deal Wednesday related to his October arrest on suspicion of felony assault in Washington. His bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, did the same.

Breezy and Hollosy were taken into custody after they were allegedly involved in a fight with another man outside the W Hotel around 4:30 a.m. Oct. 27. Though they were arrested on felony assault, the charges were later reduced to misdemeanors.

Brown appeared in court Wednesday with attorney Mark Geragos. Breezy refused the deal, his attorney said, because he did nothing wrong, the Associated Press reported.

Brown would have had to plead guilty to simple assault, which is a notch down from misdemeanor assault, according to TMZ.

Because of the D.C. incident, Brown’s probation in his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna was revoked in December in L.A., but he was not sent to jail because the judge was pleased with his progress in 90 days of court-ordered rehab for anger management.

The Grammy-winner is due back in court Feb. 20 to set a tentative trial date, the New York Daily News reported, though Geragos asked that his client be excused from appearing on that date because the travel time involved delays in Brown’s completion of rehab.
