Chris Brown’s probation revoked: ‘My cross is heavy,’ he tweets

Chris Brown’s probation in his felony assault case was revoked Monday by a judge in Los Angeles.

The hang-up? Allegedly that “obey all laws” part of the deal he struck with the D.A.’s office back in 2009.

Prosecutors maintained that two new misdemeanor charges (hit-and-run and driving without a license) violate the terms of Brown’s five-year probation, L.A. Now reported.

Olga Gure-Kovalenko, the driver of the other car, reportedly did not want to follow through on criminal charges, TMZ reported early Monday, but that issue has been continued until a week from Tuesday because the City Attorney’s office has not spoken to her.

Brown attorney Mark Geragos is maintaining that his client, a resident of Virginia, has a valid Virginia driver’s license and therefore was not driving without a license, TMZ said. Gure-Kovalenko’s lawyer told the website that she didn’t want any money in the situation, as there was no physical injury and minimal damage to her car.

After the charges where filed June 25, Brown tweeted a vigorous defense of his actions in the May 21 Barham Boulevard fender-bender.

He echoed that defense on Monday: “I did everything I was suppose to do during the so called hit n run, I provided the correct info,” Brown tweeted before the hearing. “There were no injuries or damages. C’mon!!”

He followed up later in the afternoon on a more somber note. (Breezy was not remanded into custody.)

“My cross is heavy but God gives me the strength to carry it,” he wrote.

On Monday the judge set a court day of Aug. 16, at which time it will be decided what punishment, if any, will be meted out. Brown could face up to four years behind bars on the probation violation.
