Charlize Theron’s big ring spurs rumors she and Sean Penn are engaged

Charlize Theron has been photographed wearing a big, sparkly ring on that finger, adding oomph to a rumor out earlier in the week saying she and Sean Penn are engaged.

In trying to cover her face from paparazzi on Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport, the 38-year-old Oscar winner inadvertently gave at least one photographer a better angle on her left hand -- and the image could be seen online Thursday courtesy of the New York Daily News.

On Monday, an Us Weekly source said the actress and her boyfriend “want to get married very soon” and want to adopt a child together.

Theron adopted her 2-year-old son, Jackson, as a single mom in 2012. Penn has two children from 13 years of marriage to Robin Wright, his second ex-wife. Their divorce was final in 2010. His four-year first marriage, to Madonna, ended in 1989.

Penn confirmed the relationship with Theron in January, telling Piers Morgan the dish at a fundraiser for his Haiti charity. They’d been friends for years before that, according to People.

Theron and Penn, 51, will be working on the movie “The Last Face” this summer in Africa, the continent on which she was born. He’ll be behind the camera; she’ll be the drama’s leading lady.
