Brad Pitt and family step in for Angelina Jolie at ‘Unbroken’ premiere
When Angelina Jolie calls in sick, husband Brad Pitt and her brood take up the charge.
Pitt, his parents, sons Pax and Maddox and daughter Shiloh represented the ailing director at the “Unbroken” premiere on Monday while she took the night off to deal with a bout of chicken pox -- a revelation the 39-year-old made in a video posted Friday ahead of the promotional tour for the World War II drama.
“I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the ‘Unbroken’ events in the next few days,” she explained, adding that she’d be “home, itching, and missing everyone.”
“Her spirits are high,” Pitt told E! News’ Marc Malkin on the red carpet. “A little spotted and a little itchy, but her spirits are high.”
“Unbroken” star Jack O’Connell, who plays former prisoner of war and Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini in the biopic, joined costar Garrett Hedlund, Hedlund’s girlfriend Kirsten Dunst, and the film’s stars Jai Courtney, Miyavi and Finn Wittrock at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Zamperini died in July. Members of his family were also in attendance Monday.
