Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner are getting a divorce after 10 years of marriage

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have split, the couple announced Tuesday, confirming rumors that had bubbled up in earnest about a month ago.

“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple said in a joint statement, which they said would be their final comment on the “private, family” matter.

“We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. ... Thank you for understanding.”

The couple, who costarred on 2003’s “Daredevil,” married almost exactly 10 years ago, on June 29, 2005.

Affleck, 42, and Garner, 43, have three kids together: Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3.

“They have been living apart for several months,” a source told Fox411 early Tuesday, before the announcement was made. Another source told the outlet that while it’d been known they were having trouble, “Now, it’s really over.”

TMZ reported that divorce papers wouldn’t be filed until after the couple worked out all the money, property and custody issues with the assistance of a mediator and business managers. Custody is expected to be joint, and the split is amicable, the site’s sources said.

It was his first marriage and her second.
