‘True Blood’ sex scenes a marital aid for Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer

“True Blood” stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer haven’t shied from the nudity and sexual encounters their HBO series demands. Actually, the pair believe the fantasy series’ hypersexuality has helped their marriage.

Paquin, 31, and Moyer, 44, met while working on “True Blood.” She plays half-fairy waitress Sookie Stackhouse while he plays her admirer and love interest, courteous vampire-turned-demigod Bill Compton. The actors wed in 2010 and welcomed their twins, Charlie and Poppy, in 2012.

“In a funny way, I feel like — without revealing too much — it’s quite interesting for us as a couple because we’ve kind of gone to places where a lot of people don’t get to,” Moyer said in an upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly. “And we’re still here. And I think that’s good for us in a way.”

Indeed, Oscar-winner Paquin’s character has been sexually coupled with vampires (played by Moyer and costar Alexander Skarsgard) and a werewolf (played by Joe Manganiello).

The graphic show’s Season 7 opener has Paquin going at it with Manganiello’s Alcide Herveaux. And Moyer directed it.

“There are moments where I’ll be watching on a monitor [and say], ‘Oh, Joe, just move your hand up towards Anna’s breast. Good. And can you move your right thumb just a little bit ...? Great.’” Moyer said. “And then I’ll go, ‘Babe, babe, enjoy it.’ I’m certainly talking to her as ‘babe.’ ‘Darling, go for it.’”

Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

It should be noted that Paquin poses nude next to a fully clothed, vampire-fanged Moyer on the cover of EW. A coffin shape surrounds the two.

“It’s not as awkward as you would think,” Paquin, who is openly bisexual, said (via People) of her character’s titillating encounters. “If you were to picture the perfect day at work for your spouse, would that be it? Probably not, but this is just kind of how it’s always been. So it doesn’t feel as bizarre.”

The actress said the “weird” bar was set very high and very early in the show’s run, noting that the “potentially awkward couplings” aren’t the weirdest achievements for “True Blood.” Blood-sucking biblical interpretations, anyone?

The actors joined costars Manganiello, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Tuesday for the Season 7 premiere. The cast and crew celebrated with an after-party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

In other “TB” news, Nathan Barr, the series’ composer, told E! News at the after-party that he was developing the concept into a musical.

“True Blood’s” final season arrives June 22 on HBO. Paquin and Moyer’s full interview will be in EW’s June 27 issue.
