Amy Adams is no ‘Lycra hero,’ has ‘no features without makeup’
Amy Adams is the latest Lois Lane to hit the Superman franchise, making her debut as the intrepid reporter in the summer blockbuster “Man of Steel.”
But the actress, 38, who recently admitted she tried out for the role twice in her career, has no problem playing the tenacious plainclothes partner to Henry Cavill’s towering big blue Boy Scout.
“I’ve wanted to be in a superhero movie, and this was my best chance — as some mere mortal,” the July 2013 Allure cover girl said (via NYDN).

“Let’s be real here. I don’t look that good in Lycra. I do all right, but I hadn’t anticipated that I was ever going to be cast as the girl in Lycra looking hot.”
We beg to differ -- but we’ll settle for Metropolis’ globe-trotting, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist anyway.
“I have no features without makeup,” she cheerfully adds. “I am pale. I have blond lashes. You could just paint my face — it’s like a blank canvas. It can be great for what I do.”
Though she has one fan who doesn’t love it when she’s in character.
“I wear makeup when I work, so my daughter [Aviana, 3] associates makeup with work and the other day she asked me not to wear makeup at home,” Adams said in her behind-the-scenes cover shoot video. “So if you see any really unflattering paparazzi shots, I’m doing it for my daughter.”

The self-proclaimed “girly girl” and “tomboy” also believes that “perfect isn’t normal, nor is it interesting” and will readily point out her own flaws.
“Some of these actresses or public personas who are very public about their disciplined diets, more power to them. I just don’t see the point. I’m just not going to be one of those people photographed in a bikini where people are like, ‘OMG, look at Amy!’ I mean, it might be OMG, but not for the reasons I want,” she joked.
“I think confidence is sexy, like not trying to imitate anybody else. As much as it would be great if I could re-create a Victoria’s Secret fashion show, the effect isn’t going to be the same.”

Adams also spoke about her perpetually postponed wedding plans to fiance Darren Le Gallo, Aviana’s father, to whom she’s been engaged since 2008. Specifically, that she sees a purpose in them tying the knot.
“No! There is a point to it. We both have a very specific idea that we want to do this [the ceremony] in spring or fall, like in those months, but every time I’m busy working,” she said. “I want something very family-oriented and laid-back.”
Something in Smallville, Kansas, perhaps?
