Amanda Bynes arrested on suspicion of DUI after doing well for a year
Oh, Amanda Bynes seemed to be doing so well — but now the actress-turned-design student has been arrested again on suspicion of DUI.
Bynes was arrested by the CHP before dawn on Sunday in Sherman Oaks, where she stopped her Mercedes in the middle of an intersection after the light turned red, L.A. Now reported.
She was suspected of being under the influence of drugs, police told L.A. Now, and her blood was drawn before she was released from custody shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday. However, authorities won’t know what kind of drugs she might have been using until toxicology tests come back.
A drug-recognition officer at the Van Nuys determined Bynes was under the influence of a stimulant, TMZ reported.
Bynes is serving three years’ probation after pleading no contest in February to a charge of “wet reckless” driving related to her April 2012 arrest in West Hollywood after she clipped a police cruiser when she tried to pass it around 3 a.m. This arrest could jeopardize that probation.
In August 2013, Bynes’ mom, Lynn, was granted a one-year temporary conservatorship over Amanda regarding her medical and financial decisions. The 28-year-old student was living with her parents after after nearly six months of in-patient treatment.
Before that, months of erratic behavior were capped when she set a fire in a residential driveway in Thousand Oaks. At that point she was put on a 72-hour psych hold that turned into the lengthier treatment.
She’s due back in court Oct. 23.
