Adam Levine says fiancee Behati Prinsloo got his mind on marriage
Nothing like a Victoria’s Secret model to change one’s mind about marriage!
Just ask Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine. The crooner paid a visit Monday night to “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” and Leno teased him about previously rejecting the idea of matrimony.
“I remember talking to you one time, you telling me you were never going to get married, and now you’re engaged,” Leno said. “Tell me what happened here.”
Oh, gotcha! “Famous last words, I’ll never get married,” Levine joked. “I still don’t necessarily think you have to get married unless you meet someone that makes you want to marry them. And then you marry them, and it’s wonderful.”
Levine, 34, proposed to Behati Prinsloo, 24, in July after the couple had dated on and off for about a year. The “Moves Like Jagger” singer was previously linked to Sports Illustrated models Nina Agdal and Anne Vyalitsyna. (Levine likes models, understood?) But it was Namibian model Prinsloo whom he really hit if off with.
The pair have yet to set a wedding date. “We’re working on it,” Levine told Leno. And marriage, Levine acknowledged, “is a big deal.”
Instead, the couple have geared their attention toward Halloween. “We’re gonna do ‘Eyes Wide Shut,’ the kind of creepy, like, masquerade thing,” Levine said, referencing Stanley Kubrick’s sexually charged film featuring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. “And it’s gonna be really creepy. Awesome,” he said with a grin.
Later in the segment, things got really fun when Levine told Leno about his worst first date. Levine was in his early 20s and didn’t have a credit card. All he had was a checking account with barely $172 in it, he said. “And I had a date, and we went to a nice place ... maybe it was a little out of my price zone, and she just kept ordering so many things. And I was sweating because I’m just thinking to myself, ‘Man, if you go over my limit, it’s not gonna go down.’”
Nine espressos, three desserts and a bottle of wine later, his date was still going at it.
“I’m having the most terrible time because she’s talking to me and I’m not listening. All I’m doing is thinking about my eventual demise,” he said. “So then, of course, the check comes, and I think I might have gotten in by a few cents. So it was a terrible tip, and I’m sorry to the waiter.”
Levine said he actually saw the woman again. That’s when Leno quipped, “She must have been good at something.”
Moving on other kinds of romance, Levine and Leno talked bromance. Leno wondered if Levine and his “The Voice” co-host Blake Shelton had one of those stirring. “It’s such a strange term, because it has romantic implications, so, no,” Levine said. “No mance, just bro.” But after some boos in the audience, Levine was all smiles with, “OK fine, bromance!”
OK fine, either will work!
