Hyundai’s commercial “First Date” featuring comedian Kevin Hart was the winner of USA Today’s annual poll of favorite Super Bowl spots.

The commercial for the new Hyundai scored an average of 6.91 in the survey recognized as the leading indicator of Super Bowl spot popularity. The results are based on the opinions of 19,000 panelists who registered for the survey in which they rate each ad, with 10 being the highest score.

In the humorous spot, Hart lends his Hyundai Genesis - equipped with a Blue Link Car Finder feature - to his daughter’s date so that the couple’s whereabouts can be tracked throughout the night. The spot aired right before the kickoff of Super Bowl 50 on CBS.

The Heinz Ketchup commercial called “Wiener Stampede” ranked second. It was followed by two spots for Doritos: “Ultrasound” - which showed a fetus coveting the snack food - and “Dogs,” which was the $1-million winner of the snack food brand’s “Crash the Super Bowl” contest, an open call for commercial concepts.

Hyundai landed a second slot in the top five with its Elantra commercial, which showed a community filled with guys who look like handsome actor Ryan Reynolds (all played by him).

The bottom of the Ad Meter list is typically the domain for pharmaceutical products commercials. The spot about opioid-induced constipation ranked 60th out of the 63 commercials. Xifaxin’s walking and talking intestinal track finished 62nd. Toe-nail fungus killer Jublia held down the final slot.

The Super Bowl 50 commercials continued their recent trend of attracting additional exposure on YouTube.
