‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is already Fandango’s biggest ticket seller ever
The new “Star Wars” movie has already sold more tickets online than any movie in Fandango’s history -- and it hasn’t even opened.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has broken Fandango’s record for most tickets sold for any film during its entire theatrical run, the company said Thursday. The previous top-seller for Los Angeles-based Fandango, founded in 2000, was “Jurassic World.”

Fandango does not release actual ticket sale numbers. But industrywide, the movie is estimated to have sold more than $100 million in advance tickets. It hits U.S. theaters Thursday night.
The movie is projected to gross $180 million to $220 million in its opening weekend in the U.S. and Canada, according to people who have seen pre-release audience surveys.
