Disney Cruise Line to add two new ships
Walt Disney Co. is adding two new ships to its cruise line, the company said Thursday at its annual shareholder meeting in Chicago.
The new ships, which will expand Disney Cruise Line’s fleet to six, are scheduled to be completed in 2021 and 2023. Each ship will be about 135,000 gross tons and include 1,250 guest staterooms, the company said.
They will be the first ships to be added to the fleet since the launch of the Disney Dream in 2011 and Disney Fantasy in 2012. Both are 130,000 tons. The other two ships in the fleet, the Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic, are 85,000 tons each.
Disney Cruise Line, part of the Burbank entertainment giant’s parks and resorts segment, first launched in 1998.
