Former network news executive David Westin is back in the TV business, but this time he’ll be in front of the camera.

Westin, who was president of ABC News from 1997 to 2010, is joining Bloomberg TV as an on-air personality. The program and full extent of his role is still being worked out, but Westin said in an email that he will be at Bloomberg full time.

Westin, 62, is currently a principal of Witherbee Holdings LLC, where he advises companies on digital and media issues. He is scheduled to begin at Bloomberg later this month.

“David has an accomplished background in television news,” Claudia Milne, global head of Bloomberg Television, said in a statement. “He’s an exceptional business leader, a smart lawyer, an expert on media and journalism, and a calm, intelligent presence on the air.”

Bloomberg TV is a 24-hour channel devoted mostly to business and financial news and is owned by Bloomberg L.P., the data and media company co-founded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
