ABC western ‘The Rebel’ headed to DVD

“The Rebel,” ABC’s 1959-61 western, starred the Oscar-nominated Nick Adams (“Twilight of Honor”) and featured a memorable theme song that became a hit for Johnny Cash.

Adams played Johnny Yuma, an ex-Confederate soldier who each week traveled from town to town helping to fight injustice. Guest stars included Leonard Nimoy, Warren Oates and Agnes Moorehead. On Tuesday Timeless Media Group is releasing all 76 episodes on DVD. Extras include a look back with the series’ writer-producer A.J. Fenady, who created the series with Adams, and an interview with Adams’ daughter Allyson and son Jeb.
