High-profile trustees
Steven Mnuchin is chief executive of OneWest Bank, the largest bank in Southern California. His father is art dealer Robert Mnuchin, a former investment banker who is a partner in the L&M; Arts galleries in Manhattan and Venice, Calif.
Edward Minskoff and Charles Cohen are two leading New York-based real estate figures. Minskof’s collection features art by big names including Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Willem de Kooning, Alexander Calder, Jackson Pollock and Frank Stella. Cohen’s real estate holdings include the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, where he provides a rent-free Westside gallery for MOCA.

Fred Sands became prominent selling homes in Southern California. He gave the museum $2 million in 2009.
Peter Brant is a newsprint manufacturer and magazine publisher whose holdings include Art in America and the Andy Warhol-founded Interview.
Eugenio Lopez Alonso also has his own art venue — Coleccion Jumex outside Mexico City, housed at his family’s fruit drink production plant.
The MOCA board’s president — a step below the co-chairs — is Jeffrey Soros, a documentary film producer and nephew of George Soros, who Forbes magazine says is worth $20 billion.
Laurent Degryse, who chairs the board’s finance committee, is a venture capitalist and real estate development executive whose in-laws are Guy and Myriam Ullens, the Belgian baron and baroness who established the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing.

Co-chairs David Johnson and Maria Arena Bell are among 16 members whose wealth comes from the entertainment industry, media and advertising or marketing. Johnson is a film producer, attorney and former MGM executive. Until recently, Bell was head writer and co-executive producer of TV’s “The Young and the Restless” soap opera.
Lilly Tartikoff Karatz, a dancer who was married to the late NBC programming chief Brandon Tartikoff; is now married to Bruce Karatz, a protégé of Broad who became chief executive of Broad’s first company, KB Homes.

Clifford J. Einstein, chair emeritus: Advertising executive.
Dallas Price-Van Breda, president emeritus: Co-founded Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village and a major supporter of UCLA’s School of the Arts.
Charles L. Conlan II: Wells Fargo private banking executive.

Gil Friesen: Former A&M; Records president who joined MOCA board in 1991 and has served as its president.
Susan Gersh: Daughter-in-law of MOCA co-founder and life trustee Beatrice Gersh, who died in 2011, and talent agency founder Phil Gersh.
NancyJane Goldston: Former MGM executive who has her own advertising and marketing agency.
Richard J. Grad: Partner in the Sidley Austin law firm.
Lauren King: Interior designer and wife of Richard King, whose family ran the television show syndicator King World Productions, now part of CBS.
Wonmi Kwon: Wife of retired Orange County surgeon Kihong Kwon.

Timothy J. Leiweke: President and chief executive of entertainment and sports firm AEG, which operates Staples Center and L.A. Live.
Lillian Pierson Lovelace: Widow of mutual fund executive Jon Lovelace, who chaired the J. Paul Getty Trust and the board of CalArts. Her foundation has given heavily to the Idyllwild Arts Foundation, her alma mater, Antioch University, and UCLA’s brain mapping project.
Peter Morton: Co-founder of the Hard Rock Cafe restaurant chain; also established the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. He sold both businesses.
Carolyn Powers: Wife of former PIMCO bond investments executive Bill Powers; co-chair of Dockery Farms Foundation.
Darren Star: Television writer and producer whose credits as a show creator and executive producer include “Sex and the City,” “Melrose Place” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

Jamie Tisch: Ex-wife of film producer and New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch; she lives in New York; raises money for women’s cancer research and has worked in women’s fashion retailing.
Life Trustees (all nonvoting, as is the 7th life trustee, Eli Broad)
Betye Monell Burton: A MOCA trustee and donor since 1980.
Blake Byrne: Former television station owner who donated a major collection of conceptual art to MOCA in 2004.
Lenore S. Greenberg: Former MOCA president and founding board member. Her parents, Rita and Taft Schreiber, were major collectors who bequeathed key paintings by Jackson Pollock and Piet Mondrian and a pair of sculptures by Alberto Giacometti, among others, to the museum.
Audrey Irmas: Was co-chair and a key donor to MOCA’s late-1990s $25-million endowment campaign.
Frederick M. Nicholas: Real estate developer and MOCA co-founder who helped oversee construction of its Grand Avenue headquarters.
Tom Unterman: Managing partner of a venture capital firm, and MOCA co-chair during its 2008 financial crisis. Helped engineer the sale of the Los Angeles Times to Tribune Company in 2000.
