JFK assassination: L.A. cultural groups remember
As the nation marks the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963, a few cultural groups in Southern California are observing the occasion with performances dedicated to the memory of the 35th president.
“Sunny Afternoon.” Gangbusters Theatre Company at Theatre Asylum in Hollywood. A new play that delves into the conspiracy theories surrounding the Kennedy assassination of 1963, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 3 p.m. Sunday.
CHEAT SHEET: Fall arts preview
“Dealey Plaza.” Antelope Valley College in Lancaster. A musical interpretation of the 1963 assassination, based on public records of the event, and performed by the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale. Historical video footage and photographs will be shown as part of the performance. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
“Limousine, Midnight Blue: In Memoriam, JFK.” New Center for Psychoanalysis, West L.A. A solo performance that focuses on the Zapruder film and the larger cultural implications of the assassination, using multimedia techniques. 8 p.m. Friday.
