Broadway’s ‘Legally Blonde’ to set sail
“Legally Blonde” is headed for the high seas.
Norwegian Cruise Lines will bring the Tony-nominated Broadway musical on board its Getaway, a 4,028-passenger ship set to debut in January 2014.
And “Blonde” isn’t the only musical to sail.

Getaway’s sister ship, Breakaway, will stage “Rock of Ages” and Royal Caribbean recently held auditions for its “Hairspray” and “Chicago” productions.
The 2001 movie-turned-musical “Legally Blonde” premiered on Broadway in 2007 and played 595 performances before closing in 2008.
The show about a towheaded sorority girl with a legal mind has since toured internationally, including a 2009 stop at the Pantages Theatre.
Times theater critic F. Kathleen Foley wrote that while the show was “blatantly derivative” it was also surprisingly “delightful” and “smarter than you think.”
