In latest health update, Nick Cannon says Jamie Foxx is awake and alert
Jamie Foxx is said to be awake and alert after suffering an unspecified “medical complication” earlier this month, according to his pal Nick Cannon.
“The Masked Singer” and “The Daily Cannon” host provided the latest update about the Oscar-winning “Ray” star’s undisclosed ailment Sunday in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, sharing that Foxx gave him permission to talk about his health.
“I was reluctant to go all the way there, and even talk about it, but he gave me the blessing, so it’s a beautiful thing,” Cannon said. “He’s awake. They say he’s alert, so, we love it.”
Cannon did not disclose what had been ailing the “Collateral” star, but shared that “he’s doing so much better” and alluded to a joint project they plan to announce soon.
Oscar winner Jamie Foxx is ‘already on his way to recovery’ after suffering a medical complication this week, according to his daughter Corinne Foxx.
Foxx, 55, has reportedly been hospitalized in Atlanta since he suffered the “medical complication” on April 11, according to his daughter Corinne Foxx.
“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” Foxx’s family said in an April 12 statement posted on Corinne’s Instagram page. “We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
The family has not provided additional updates since their initial statement, but Foxx’s friends have shared a few.
“I hear he’s doing better,” his pal Martin Lawrence said last week, “My prayers go out for him every night and just wishing the best for him, one of the best that we got in Hollywood.”
“Not only one of the best entertainers but a good person,” the 58-year-old “Bad Boys” star added.
Fellow Oscar winner Viola Davis and Foxx’s “Ray” and “Django Unchained” co-star Kerry Washington also have shared public messages of support for the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” actor. Cannon also posted an Instagram tribute to his friend on April 15, praying for a “complete and total recovery for the most talented human on earth with a Spirit bigger than this small planet.”
Martin Lawrence provided a small update on fellow comedian Jamie Foxx’s health after the Oscar winner suffered an unspecified ‘medical complication’ last week.
“The Jamie Foxx Show” star was taken to a hospital on April 11 and his condition was serious enough that his family members, some of whom were out of town, traveled there to see him, according to TMZ. At the time, the site said the actor was “communicating” but had no details on Foxx’s medical issue.
The multi-hyphenate entertainer, who got his start as a classical pianist and in stand-up comedy, had recently been working in Atlanta and in the U.K. on the Netflix film “Back in Action.” The movie co-stars newly unretired actor Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close, but the production has been plagued with “meltdown” rumors for weeks.
Foxx reportedly had eight shooting days left on the film and shooting resumed last week with stunt doubles standing in for him, according to TMZ. The movie was set to wrap last week despite his absence.
