Taylor Swift and Matty Healy reportedly split after reportedly dating
Singers Taylor Swift and Matty Healy have reportedly called it quits less than two months after they reportedly started dating.
Multiple outlets, including TMZ and Entertainment Tonight, reported the breakup news on Monday. A source told Entertainment Tonight that the “Midnights” artist, 33, and the 1975‘s frontman, 34, are “both extremely busy and realized they’re not really compatible with each other.”
Swift and Healy sparked romance rumors shortly after the “Lavender Haze” hitmaker broke up with her actor boyfriend of six years, Joe Alwyn. Though neither musician publicly confirmed their relationship, Healy attended multiple Swift shows during her sold-out Eras tour — even joining opening act Phoebe Bridgers onstage in Nashville.
Controversy around Matty Healy eclipses celebrations of the star-powered ‘Midnights (Deluxe)’ collaboration between Taylor Swift and Ice Spice.
The “All Too Well” performer and the “Somebody Else” artist have also been spotted out and about together while the former has been traveling across the United States for her first concert tour in five years.
Representatives for Swift and Healy did not immediately respond Monday to The Times’ requests for comment.
In recent months, Healy has come under fire for comments he made earlier this year on the “Adam Friedland Show” podcast — and, by association, so has Swift.
Multiple outlets have reported that singer Taylor Swift and actor Joe Alwyn have split after six years. Here’s what we know about the breakup.
The vocalist and guitarist has been criticized for laughing at the podcast hosts’ offensive remarks about rising rapper Ice Spice, mocking Japanese accents and joking about masturbating to a video of a woman “getting, like, brutalized” on a porn website that prominently features Black women.
In April — around the time he was rumored to be Swift’s new beau — Healy (sort of) apologized to Ice Spice during a 1975 concert in New Zealand. The “About You” singer explained that he felt compelled to respond to the backlash “not because I’m annoyed that me joking got misconstrued” but “because I don’t want Ice Spice to think I’m a d—.”
“I love you, Ice Spice,” he added. “I’m so sorry.”
A new version of ‘Midnights,’ on sale tomorrow, will contain remixes with Ice Spice and Lana Del Rey and could challenge Morgan Wallen for top spot on LP chart.
A month later, Swift released a remix of her 2023 hit “Karma” featuring Ice Spice — a move that raised eyebrows and fanned the flames of the firestorm surrounding Healy on social media. Ice Spice performed the track onstage with Swift in New Jersey shortly thereafter.
“I’m a massive fan of this brilliant artist and after getting to know her I can confirm: she is THE ONE to watch,” Swift said of the “Boy’s a Liar” hitmaker.
According to E! News, Swift and Healy met in the early 2010s after the Grammy-winning “Folklore” musician went to a 1975 concert in Hollywood. Healy confirmed at the time that he and Swift had “exchanged numbers” and talked on several occasions but vehemently denied any speculation that they were an item.
“I didn’t even date Taylor, but the media’s incessant and brutal obsession with her has meant that even a guy who DIDN’T DATE HER has been so battered by their never-ending questions that he’s inevitably said something that can be lifted and molded into something that resembles ‘shade,’” he wrote in a since-deleted tweet, according to E! News. “It’s really sad.”
