$1.3-billion winning Powerball ticket sold in Oregon
After the drawing was delayed for several hours, a single ticket sold in Oregon was announced Sunday as the winner of the $1.326-billion Powerball jackpot.
The ticket matched all six numbers drawn to win the grand prize, the fourth largest Powerball jackpot in the game’s history, according to the Powerball website. The winning numbers were white balls 22, 27, 44, 52 and 69 plus red Powerball 9.
The jackpot has a cash value of $621 million.
The drawing was held at 2:29 a.m. Eastern time Sunday after it was delayed due to a procedural issue, according to the website. The drawing was supposed to have taken place at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time Saturday.
Powerball game rules require that every ticket sold nationwide be checked and verified against two different computer systems before the winning numbers are drawn. The process ensures that every ticket sold for the Powerball drawing has been accounted for and has an equal chance to win, the statement said.
The last winning Powerball jackpot was for $842.4 million in a drawing held Jan. 1; the ticket was sold in Michigan.
