Body of man found in ocean off Hermosa Beach
Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found floating in the ocean in Hermosa Beach early Friday.
Hermosa Beach police officers discovered the body of a white male between the ages of 40 and 45 near the shoreline about 7 a.m., officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was initially reported by some media outlets that the man was injured and had suffered from a gunshot wound. But the Hermosa Beach police released a statement on Sunday that said the cause of death was still under investigation.
“Under further investigation, there was no indication the injury was received from a gunshot and the cause of death is unknown at this time. The investigation is on-going by the LASD Sheriffs Department, the cause of death will be determined by the LA County Coroner.”
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is assisting in the investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
