Near a hair salon and a family-style restaurant, L.A. cops find a bag containing a torso
A bag containing a torso was found in Encino early this morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The ongoing investigation has led the department’s homicide detectives to a home in the 4100 block of Coldstream Terrace in Tarzana, about five miles from where the remains were discovered, according to a report by KTLA.
Officers responded to a call of human remains found in a black plastic bag at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to a Police Department spokesperson.
The bag was found by a man scavenging for recyclables, according to KTLA. Homicide Det. Efren Guttierez told the news outlet the black bag had been placed inside a duffel bag and tossed into the dumpster.
Only a torso was in the bag, with no other body parts. Police have not yet determined the victim’s age or how she died but have confirmed the victim is a female, according to KTLA.
The bag was found at Ventura Boulevard and Rubio Avenue, in a commercial area that includes two banks, a hair salon and a family-style restaurant. It appears the bag was located near a dumpster in the rear parking lot of a building, according to video of the scene shot by KTLA.
LAPD officials provided no further details on the victim, except to say the investigation was ongoing and no suspect information was available.
This is a developing story and will be updated as details are released.
