Off-duty L.A. County sheriff’s deputy shot during family dispute in Harbor City
An off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was stable at a hospital after he was shot in Harbor City on Monday night.
Authorities were called to the shooting at 7:04 p.m. in the 23300 block of Dorset Place, according to Officer Rosario Cervantes, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson.
Cervantes later confirmed the victim was an off-duty sheriff’s deputy who went to the residence and “became involved in a family dispute.”
The deputy was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition Monday night, Cervantes said.
Authorities did not release the deputy’s identity. Deputy Tracy Koerner, a L.A. County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, said the deputy is a man but was not able to provide further information.
A man who lives at the home where the shooting occurred was taken into custody and a handgun was recovered at the scene, Cervantes said.
