San Bernardino fire: The latest on evacuation orders, road closures, shelter
The Old Water fire that erupted just after 2 a.m. near Old Waterman Canyon Road and Highway 18 in the San Bernardino Mountains has burned 75 acres and forced the evacuation of nearby neighborhoods.
Evacuations: Roughly 80 homes in north San Bernardino neighborhoods that include Mariposa Drive, David Way and Arrowhead Road are under mandatory evacuations. Voluntary evacuations are in place in the city of San Bernardino for all homes north of Foothill Drive between Del Rosa Avenue and Manzanita Drive.
School closures: Paakuma’ school and Cal State San Bernardino
Shelter: San Gorgonio High School, 2299 Pacific St.
- Animal shelters: San Bernardino City Animal Control will house smaller animals. Those with horses or other livestock can contact animal control and inquire for that limited space.
Road closures: Highway 18 between 40th Street and Highway 138 and Lake Gregory Drive at Highway 18.
Forecast: Forecasts of strong Santa Ana winds, temperatures above 90 degrees and low humidity prompted the National Weather Service to issue red flag warnings through 5 p.m. Friday for the fire area. Wind speeds will be between 25 and 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
