YouTube returns to Windows Phone

After a three-month absence, the YouTube app has returned to Windows Phone.

Microsoft pulled the prior version, which it built on its own, after drawing the ire of Google because the app lacked support for ads. The two companies then began working on an updated version of the YouTube app.

That app was released Tuesday, bringing native YouTube functionality back to Windows Phone devices.

“We’ve released an updated YouTube app for Windows Phone that provides the great experience our consumers expect while addressing the concerns Google expressed in May, including the addition of ads,” Microsoft told The Verge.

The new app also includes more features than before. Users can now upload video and stream live video feeds. Users can now also access playlists, manage their profile pages and navigate the app using voice search.

Microsoft said it appreciated “Google’s support in ensuring that Windows Phones customers have a quality YouTube experience and look forward to continuing the collaboration.”
