Live coverage: Apple’s big iPhone event

Apple is holding a press event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on Wednesday to announce a gaggle of gadgets, including a new iPhone.

Technology writer Andrea Chang is live-tweeting the event. The coverage will include tweets from other writers at the Los Angeles Times as they weigh in on the announcements, expected to start at 10 a.m. PDT, and get reaction from analysts and Apple observers.

The Tech Now blog will also publish posts as news happens, so check back with us to see what’s new with the iPhone and how it stacks up against the competition.

We’ll also discuss all the news in a Google+ Hangout later in the day with staffers from other tech sites; they’ll provide their thoughts on the new Apple gadget.

As for the news itself, you can check out what we expect Apple to announce, and of course that includes the iPhone, which will likely get a larger screen than its predecessors, as well as LTE connectivity.

Apple also might announce a couple of updated iPods, including the iPod Touch, iPod Shuffle and the iPod Nano.

But don’t hold your breath for the iPad Mini. Apple likely won’t announce that device until early next month, if it does at all.
