Zooey Deschanel buys in Manhattan Beach
Zooey Deschanel has starred on the television series “New Girl” for the last four years. Now she gets to be one in Manhattan Beach. The actress bought a home for $4.569 million in the tightknit community popular with sports stars and celebrities but where it’s tough to keep a secret.
The neighborhood location and lack of ocean views or direct access makes this an unlikely candidate for a second home at the beach.
Built last year, the Cape Cod-inspired two-story of 5,166 square feet opens to a flagstone patio with heaters. Listing details say there’s also room for a sports court and a swimming pool on the 8,808-square-foot grounds.
A family room with a limestone fireplace, a bar, six bedrooms and seven bathrooms are among the living areas.
Deschanel, 35, will star in this year’s upcoming films “The Driftless Area” and “Rock the Kasbah.”
The property last changed hands in 2013 for $1.611 million. Hat tip goes to Variety for sleuthing out the purchase.
Robert Lane of Shorewood Realtors is the listing agent. Tad Thormodsgaard of Palm Realty Boutique represented Deschanel.
